Biographies


Ning Liang is one of the pre-eminent mezzo-sopranos on the international opera scene. She has appeared in many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera, the Semper Opera Dresden, as well as at Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Marseilles, Bologna, Helsinki, Tel Aviv, Washington, Philadelphia, and Toronto. Ms. Liang is an active concert and


recital singer and soloist, and has collaborated with Giuseppe Sinopoli, Riccardo Muti, Sir Colin Davis, Christian Thielemann, Gary Bertini, Jacques de la Cote, Eliahu Inbal, Peter Schreier, Gerd Albrecht, and James Conlon. She has recently performed at Paris Opera in Johan Adam´s “Nixon in China” and in Shanghai in Tan Duns “TE” She has visited Opera Bergen for several productions; as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini),  and Zuzuki in Puccini´s Madama Butterfly. This summer she visits Bergen for performing the title role in Opera Bergens´s production of Bizet´s Carmen.

EUGENIA DUSHINA – soprano 
Eugenia Dushina studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and also began her singing career in Russia, where she appeared on a number of operatic stages. In 2016, she moved to Europe in order to develop her career. While completing postgraduate studies at Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Arts in 2017, she made her European debut as Nedda in Pagliacci for the Oper Klosterneuburg Festival in Vienna and was hailed by the Austrian newspaper “Kurier” as “the discovery of the evening”. Since 2017 she is a freelance opera singer and has added to her repertoire several leading roles as Violetta Valery in La traviata of Verdi and Leila in Les pêcheurs de perles of Bizet – both in Opera Bergen´s productions. In 2020 she was Cho-Cho San in Madama Butterfly at Bergenhus Medieval Castle in Opera Bergen open air Summer Opera.Eugenia Dushina has won prizes at several major international competitions including the Grand Prix Maria Callas, Feruccio Tagliavini Competition, and Glinka International Vocal Contest. This summer she visits Bergen for performing the role of Michaëla in Opera Bergen´s production of Bizet´s Carmen.

JØRGEN MAGNUS HASLUM – bass-baritone
Jørgen Magnus Haslum began his studies in Bergen at the Grieg Academy and continued in Oslo at the Opera Academy. He then moved to New York to study with Mark Schnaible for two years. He is now a student of Yngve Søberg. He is very valued at Opera Bergen and has worked with them since 2014, in roles such as: Abimelech SAMSON ET DALILA Bethune I VESPRI SCICILIANI (2021), Commisario MADAMA BUTTERFLY (2020), Nourabad LES PÊCHEUR DE PERLES (2018) and Angelotti TOSCA (2017)."The young Norwegian bass-baritone Jørgen Magnus Haslum impressed with great articulation, intonation and showed a natural and convincing stage performance" (Bergens Tidende). This summer he visits Bergen for performing the role of Zuniga in Opera Bergen´s production of Bizet´s Carmen

JOHAN SHAHRIDZUAN – pianist
Johan Shahridzuan obtained a Bachelor of Music (Hons.) degree from UCSI University in 2009 where he studied piano performance with Jaz Tan Siaw Pei and Professor Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa while pursuing his vocal studies with Ian Lim Kean Seng. As a soloist, Johan Shahridzuan has been featured in numerous concerts in Kuala Lumpur such as the 1st Asia Grand Piano Concert in 2009 and Celebrating Chopin Concert in 2010.  He also performed before the Crown Prince of Norway in a state dinner hosted by the Norwegian Embassy. Being an active piano accompanist, Johan Shahridzuan performed many vocal recitals and accompanies the Dithyrambic Singers at major choral festivals and competitions throughout the globe. In 2011, he completed his Masters in Music at the Birmingham Conservatoire with distinction. Alongside that, he championed several competitions in 2011, the Delia Hall Accompaniment Prize, Edward Brooks Song Prize for Pianist, Gordon Clinton Prize for English Song, Ambache Prize for Women Composers and Ashleyan Opera Prize as a vocal accompanist and was awarded a junior fellowship by the conservatoire. This summer he visits Bergen for being repetiteure for soloists and choir preparing for Opera Bergen´s production of Bizet´s Carmen

Anne Randine Øverby is a very profiled and well-known opera artist from Norway. She has been working for the art of opera throughout her career – as a conductor, a producer and as an entrepreneur for the foundation of the second main opera company in Norway; the Opera Bergen. On an international standard she has created more than 150 opera productions for a domestic audience. In cooperation with her artistic and technical staff in Opera Bergen, she has managed to bring singers from all over the world to her hometown – performing at a very high level in opera productions very well reviewed from international opera critics.
