The city of Leipzig can be sensed as a faint backdrop for tonight’s concert. Here Felix Mendelssohn founded the conservatory to which he lent his name
(which he also lent, quite unaware, to tonight’s performing piano trio) in 1843, the very same year that Edvard Grieg was born. Here, Grieg would spend his study years, and here also, he would meet his friend Johannes Brahms for the first time in 1887. The three works on tonight’s program each represents some of the finest chamber music these composers wrote, performed by the acclaimed Norwegian Felix Piano Trio.

F. MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY (1809-1847)
