MONDAY 31. JULY at 7.30 pm
Peter Hudler, violincello
Andreas Teufel, piano
Presents «SkandinaWien»

This is a perfect occasion to experience the genuine platform of a classical recital like it should be, namely to tell a story. Two fabulous musicians, who interpret master works from both Scandinavia and the old Wiener Classical world. And the story…? That music is an international language, which creates a mutual understanding that we all belong to the one and same community. We just express it with different accents…

Peter Hudler was born in Vienna, Austria, in ... Conservatory of Vienna and at Mozarteum Salzburg, where he finished both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honours. Masterclasses with high profile cellists such as Enrico Dindo, Antonio Meneses, Enrico Bronzi, Thorleif Thedeen and Pieter Wispelwey helped him develop further. His chamber music education was highly influenced by Thomas Riebl and Rainer Schmidt of the Hagen Quartett.

Peter is active as a freelance musician. As a chamber musician and as a soloist with his own solo project, testing out the blurring of genre lines between classical music, jazz, world music and others genres, he has given over 50 concerts since 2017. He is the founder and musical director of “Cello Expansion”, a concert series in Vienna that presents the cello in extraordinary ways.

Hudler is currently cello professor at the Prayner Conservatory of Vienna, and also teaches private students. He worked as permanent solo cellist of the Danish Chamber Players/Storströms Kammerensemble in 2014, and has been the solo cellist at NOSO (Northern Opera and Symphony Orchestra) in Norway. He has participated in projects with the Camerata Salzburg, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Le Concert Olympique, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, Royal Philharmonic Stockholm and Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, amongst others.

The pianist Andreas Teufel studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, with Alexandr Satz, and completed his studies in piano performance with distinction. He currently works as a piano coach at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Earlier he has lectured at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, and at the China Conservatory in Beijing.

Andreas Teufel is a former member of the promotion programme of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, and holds an honorary prize from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research. He has participated in courses by Wolfgang Watzinger, Peter Feuchtwanger, Günter Reinhold, Jos van Immerseel (fortepiano), Axel Bauni (vocal accompaniment) and Joze Martinez (coaching).

So far, his performances have led him to numerous European countries, as well as South Africa, Egypt, China and Ethiopia. Contemporary music has always played an important part in his repertoire: he gave a solo recital at the renowned Viennese festival for contemporary music “Wien Modern”, and between 2013 and 2016 he regularly conducted the Lieder studios at the American “AIMS” summer festival in Graz. In 2015 the extraordinary double CD “AUF! - A Sound Trek” was released by Orlando Records, together with the Austrian baritone Clemens Kölbl.

Andreas Teufel is not only a multifaceted soloist, chamber music partner and coach, but also a founding member of the Stella Artis Ensemble and the artist platform KlangGut; holder of a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Technology in Vienna; and plays the traditional Viennese button accordion in several folk music formations.
