VIRENTIA QUARTET is a string quartet based in Oslo that is made up of bachelor students from the Barratt Due Music Institute. The quartet began in 2014, and has since been very active in playing concerts for national and international chamber music festivals.
EMILY EARL began her studies in 2008 at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where she studied for five years. As a soloist, Emily has performed in various venues. She has played with many different orchestras in Cadogan Hall, London, and Birmingham Symphony Hall. In 2013, Emily moved to Oslo to take a Bachelor in music performance at the Barratt Due Music Institute.
RUTH HENEY, born in 1995, began at a young age to take lessons with violinist David Francis. At 14 years old, she moved to Manchester to study at Chethams’ School of Music. She has played with many string quartets, including a guest performance with “The London Haydn String Quartet.” Ruth moved to Norway in 2013 to study a Bachelor in music at the Barratt Due Music Institute.
IRIS MAIDRE AARVIK began to play with JIMIA string quartet at age 9 where she was introduced to the viola for the first time. In 2008, she began to focus on the viola, and has since been active in many orchestras, including the Bergen Youth Chamber Orchestra and Youth Symphony that has toured to both China and Japan. Iris currently studies at the Barratt Due Music Institute, studying with Soon-Mi Chung.
MALIN ROSA MERTENS Mertens began at a young age to take lessons at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, Norway, participating in their talent development program. As an orchestra musician, she has participated in tours to Slovakia and China, and later in Norway with Oslo Camerata. Malin is currently taking her Bachelor degree at Barratt Due Music Institute.
MAX NYBERG has studied both jazz and classical piano, continuing his studies later on in composition. In 2015, his composition “5 Narratives for Bass Clarinet and Piano” was published through Alea Publishing and Recording. Max received a Bachelor at Barratt Due Music Institute. He later took his Masters studies at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln, Germany.
