- Yes, life is as strange as
folk songs. We don't know if
they were meant to be in major or minor key... Some of the melodies are exquisitely beautiful. At any rate I have written down chord progression that are outrageous. However,
in my defense I must say that they did not originate at the
piano, but in my mind.

(Grieg about his transcriptions of folk songs)

BIOGRAPHIES

With four international first prizes and six national first prizes, SANDRA LIED HAGA has become known in both Europe and Norway.

She made her debut when she was 12 years old at Wigmore Hall, where she continued to play several concerts. She has also performed in many other major European, Russian and American venues, and has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras such as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Kringkastingsorkesteret, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Amman Symphony Orchestra, and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.

In 2014-2015, she has cooperated with Gordon Beck as well as Leif Ove Andsnes in different festivals in Bergen, Rosendal, and Bodø. Sandra is the first Norwegian cellist to become a finalist in the Tchaikovsky International Competition after Truls Mørk.

This year, she will participate in festivals such as Festspillene i Bergen, Risør Chamber music festival, and the Norwegian Opera and Ballet. She has performed chamber music together with Leif Ove Andsnes, Truls Mørk, Lars Anders Tomter and Henning Kraggerud.

She has appeared on multiple occasions on television and radio, and is especially known for her program “Masterclass” with Truls Mørk and Virtuoso Finale in 2010 and 2012.

Since she was 15 years old, she has been a student of Truls Mørk, and from 2014 as student of Lars Anders Tomter. Sandra continues her education with Frans Helmerson at the Daniel Barenboims Academy.

TOR ERIK SEIME PETTERSEN studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, the University of Stavanger, and the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, with the pianists Audun Kayser, Håkon Austbø and Staffan Scheja among his teachers.

He has been a prizewinner in several national competitions, and has appeared as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and several of the leading Norwegian wind and brass bands. He has also performed at festivals such as the Bergen International Festival, the Church Music Festival in Kristiansand, and – for almost a decade – the Grieg in Bergen Festival.

Tor Erik is an active chamber musician and accompanist, with regular concert appearances both in Norway and in many European countries. In addition to a busy career as a freelance pianist, he is working as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Grieg Academy and various music schools in Bergen.
