- Yes, life is as strange as
folk songs. We don't know if
they were meant to be in major or minor key... Some of the melodies are exquisitely beautiful. At any rate I have written down chord progression that are outrageous. However,
in my defense I must say that they did not originate at the
piano, but in my mind.

BIOGRAPHIES

LINDA HEDLUND graduated from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts in 2002, and has since earned a Doctor of Music degree in violin performance from the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki, where she also worked as a university assistant during her time as a student.

Dr. Hedlund has been successful in numerous competitions, and has worked as first concertmaster, a.o. at the Pacific Music Festival Japan (1999) with Michael Tilson Thomas and with Tapiola Sinfonietta (2004). She has appeared as leader/soloist with Sinfonia da Camera Finlandia, the Austrian Chamber Orchestra and in various recording projects.

Performing internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, Dr. Hedlund has partnered with a.o. principal players of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, cellist Steven Isserlis, and pianist Oliver Kern for chamber music. She has also performed as a soloist with a.o. La Tempesta orchestra, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, Vogtland Philharmonie, Austrian Chamber Orchestra, Lohja City Orchestra, Kaunianen City Orchestra and OSUEL Symphony orchestra in Brazil.

Dr. Hedlund has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at many prestigious festivals, including Helsinki Festival (Finland), Musica Nova (Helsinki), Grafenegg Festival (Austria), Honart Festival Konzerthaus in Vienna, and in Carnegie Hall, New York. Her performances have also been broadcast on radio and TV in Finland, The Czech Republic, Austria, and the US.
In 2007, she founded the Emäsalo Music Festival, which takes place each summer in southern Finland. On her acclaimed debut CD (issued under the Finnish label Fuga in 2008) she collaborated with pianist Oliver Kern in sonatas by Franck, Saint-Saëns and Debussy. Another CD (with guitarist Otto Tolonen) was released in 2011 by Classic Concert Music Group, Salzburg.

DEBBY BALD was born in Hagen/Westfalen, Germany. She started playing the cello at an early age, quickly gaining recognition for her great talent. For ten years, she was principal cellist in the Ruhrstadt orchestra Schwerte, and she was also accepted as a member of the prestigious regional youth orchestra “Landesjugendorchester NRW” several times, as well as the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she took part in CD recordings. With these orchestras, she participated in concert tours to China (2006), Poland (2005), Russia (2007), and the Czech Republic (2009).

In the course of her musical career, Debby Bald has received several important national awards. She has attended masterclasses by such musicians as Hans-Erik Deckert (Denmark), Gerhard Mantel (Frankfurt) and Troels Svane (Lübeck). In 2003, she appeared as a soloist with the Hagen Symphony Orchestra and other major regional orchestras in Germany.
Currently, Debby Bald plays in several orchestras as well as in different chamber formations. She performs frequently in duo and trio constellations with pianist Roberto Issoglio (Italy), violinist Massimo Marin (Italy), clarinettist Miguel Angel Tamarit (Spain) and violinist Cihat Askin (Turkey). As an academic at the Goethe Institut in Turin, she is also in charge of collaboration with the conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin.

ROBERT ISSOGLIO – concert pianist, piano teacher, visiting professor at the Osnabrück Institute of Music, and chairman of the Turin Mozart Society – began his musical career in his hometown of Turin (Italy), where he started playing the piano at a young age.

He sought to broaden his musical understanding as a student of Mari Gachet, Bruno Canino and Roland Pröll, as well as through postgraduate courses with Pavel Gililov and Peter Lang (Salzburg Mozarteum), finally gaining his diploma as a concert pianist in Alessandria.

Issoglio has been a prizewinner in several national and international music competitions, both as a soloist and in chamber music groups. He has performed extensively with different international ensembles for many years, such as the BBC Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra; as a duo with the flutist Claudio Ferrarini, with the Turkish violinist Cihat Askin and with the pianist Bruno Canino, as well as in collaboration projects with members of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Since 2006, he has been a regular jury member in the international music competition “Torneo Internazionale di Musica” in France and Italy. Besides his duties as a National Advisor, a post which he shares with Marcello Abbado and other well-known musicians, he has been the director of the Chamber music Masterclass at the “Pasqua di Cervo” Festival (Imperia) since 2008.
