BIOGRAPHIES  

TURID BAKKE BRAUT graduated from Bergen Music Conservatory 1978 as a pianist and singer. In 1969 she was awarded 1.prize at the National Youth Piano Competition. She made her debut in Oslo in 1976. As a pianist she graduated from Royal College of Music and Drama, London, in 1979, and she made her diploma at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo 1981.

In 1990 she was working as a pianist and teacher at the Trondheim Music Conservatory, and since 2002 she is an associate professor of The Grieg Academy of Bergen

Turid Bakke Braut has soloed with several professional symphony orchestras in Norway, and performed in radio and television. She has toured abroad in countries as Japan, USA, Russia, Germany and Spain. She plays regularly at Troldhaugen, the home of Edvard Grieg.

She has been participating in several CD productions of norwegian music and is working a lot as an accompanist of singers.

 

 

 

SIGNE BAKKE studied with Jan Henrik Kayser at the Bergen Music Conservatory and with Jens Harald Bratlie at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where she received her diploma in 1986.

At the age of 18, she won the first prize at the National Youth Piano Competition, and at the age of 23, she made her debut in Oslo.

She has been engaged as a soloist with various orchestras, among others the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, and she has participated in The Bergen International Festival.

In addition to her performances as soloist, Bakke has over the years been very active as an accompanist and chamber musician. She is one of the regular pianists at Troldhaugen, the home of Edvard Grieg, and she has recorded several CDs with music by Grieg and other Norwegian composers. In March 2011 she released the CD “Crystalline” with piano music by the Japanese
composer Karen Tanaka.

Signe Bakke is employed as associate professor at the Grieg Academy, University of Bergen.
